About the station
Midpen Media Center (formerly Midpeninsula Community Media Center) is a nonprofit community media organization that has served Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, East Palo Alto, and surrounding San Mateo and Santa Clara County communities since 1990, providing PEG access television, media production training, and free-speech broadcast access at the heart of Silicon Valley.
Midpen operates five cable access TV channels covering government meetings, youth and education programming, arts and lifestyle content, cultural diversity programming, and regional Bay Area content, and contributes to a sixth regional channel. The center maintains a full-service HD studio at 900 San Antonio Road in Palo Alto, offers equipment for community use, provides training ranging from beginner TV crew skills to advanced production, and has produced award-winning programming representing the diverse communities of the mid-Peninsula.
Silicon Valley residents in Palo Alto and surrounding communities - in a region where extraordinary wealth and technological sophistication coexist with significant inequality and an urgent need for genuine community connection - rely on Midpen Media to provide the free-speech platform, civic government coverage, and media education that commercial media in the world's most powerful tech hub has no business model to provide.
