Media Bridges Cincinnati

Media Bridges was Cincinnati, Ohio's community media center, founded in 1988 as Cincinnati's Community Video and operating four public access cable channels reaching more than 165,000 households in Hamilton County while providing media education, equipment access, and a free-speech broadcast platform for Cincinnati residents until it closed due to funding cuts.

Located in the Crosley Telecommunications Center in Over-the-Rhine alongside Channel 48 CET and Cincinnati Public Radio, Media Bridges operated three public access channels, one educational channel, and the low-power FM radio station WVQC, offering video production training, graphic design, and web design classes and maintaining four in-house editing bays. The organization was recognized as one of the largest public access operations in Ohio before state law changes that had required cable companies to fund such organizations were repealed.

Cincinnati's diverse communities - including more than 80 churches and countless cultural, neighborhood, and civic organizations - used Media Bridges to broadcast programming that reached across the city's neighborhoods, creating a free-speech platform that the organization described as essential for communities otherwise unable to access mainstream media.
