About this hub
Community Media of Staten Island (CMSI) is Staten Island's public access television organization, founded in 1983 as Staten Island Community Television (SICTV) under a franchise agreement with Staten Island Cable and permanently opened in 1988, with a board appointed by the Borough President of Staten Island.
CMSI broadcasts on Spectrum Channels 34, 79, 1996, and 1997, and on Verizon FiOS Channels 34, 35, 36, and 37, operating from a facility at 100 Cable Way with two studios, two editing suites, and a portable camera division. The organization provides free production training and equipment to Staten Island residents and nonprofits, covering community board meetings, government press conferences, local sports, entertainment, and religious programming, and recently added streaming and video-on-demand through a new app and website.
Staten Island residents use CMSI to broadcast the neighborhood programming, sports coverage, and community affairs content that makes this often-overlooked New York City borough visible on its own terms - a community television operation that has served the Island's distinct, working-class civic culture for more than four decades.
