About this hub
Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT) is Missoula, Montana's community media resource, located in the Missoula Public Library at 455 East Main and operating two Charter Spectrum cable channels (189 and 190) reaching approximately 10,000 households in the Missoula area.
MCAT provides free training in studio production, cameras, lighting, video editing, and podcasting through workshops offered every week, records gavel-to-gavel coverage of Missoula City Council, County Commissioners, School Board, and other government meetings totaling more than 2,400 hours annually, and offers up to 12 hours of free staff time per year to local nonprofits, civic groups, and community organizations to produce media about their work. The organization also runs after-school media programs, weekend workshops for middle schoolers, and summer camps, and has provided more than $2.7 million in in-kind media services to Missoula nonprofits since 2001.
Missoula residents - in a progressive university city in the Rocky Mountain West with a strong tradition of civic engagement, environmental activism, and community storytelling - rely on MCAT for the government transparency, youth media education, and free-speech broadcast platform that give a full range of Missoula voices access to the airwaves.
