About this hub
Fairfax Public Access (FPA) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing community members of Fairfax County and the Washington DC metropolitan area with training, studio facilities, and cable channel access to produce and broadcast noncommercial television and radio programming.
FPA operates from its Merrifield production facility with three digital television studios and broadcasts on Cox Communications, Verizon FiOS, and Comcast channels including Channel 10 (flagship local programming), Channel 30 (international programming in more than 14 languages), Channel 36, and Channel 37, airing more than 2,000 hours of original programming annually. The organization also operates Radio Fairfax and WRLD International Radio, and offers courses taught weeknights and weekends to members ranging from complete beginners to experienced producers.
Fairfax County residents - in one of the most diverse and internationally connected counties in the country, adjacent to the nation's capital - rely on Fairfax Public Access for the multilingual community programming and locally produced content that commercial television in the Washington market never provides, making FPA one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse public access operations in the United States.
