Community Access Television of Silver

Silver City, NM · CATS

Visit website →

Community Access Television of Silver (CATS) is a nonprofit membership organization serving Silver City and Grant County in the remote high-desert mountains of southwestern New Mexico, providing the only local PEG access television for this isolated corner of the state.

CATS operates on local cable channels 17, 18, and 19, plus low-power channel 8, and also broadcasts on KOOT 88.1 FM, giving the organization an unusually broad media footprint for a small community. The three cable channels carry public, educational, and government access programming produced by and for Grant County residents.

Silver City residents rely on CATS to find the locally produced programming and government coverage that keeps this arts-oriented small city - home to Western New Mexico University and a large community of artists, retirees, and outdoor enthusiasts - connected to itself in a region where commercial media rarely reaches.
