About this hub
GrassRoots Television, now GrassRoots Community Network, is a community access media organization serving Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado. Founded in 1972, it is widely described as one of the country's earliest and longest-running community cable television stations.
The station records and distributes local programming, public meetings, community conversations, nonprofit programs, and regionally focused shows. It partners with the City of Aspen, Pitkin County, Snowmass Village, Basalt, nonprofit organizations, local producers, and community members to make local life visible on cable and online platforms.
GrassRoots matters to CMV because it represents one of the deep roots of community television: a locally controlled media service that began early, lasted across major technology changes, and continues to serve a mountain region where local connection, public meetings, and community storytelling remain essential.
