About this hub
ATL Community Media is the current public access and community media program serving Atlanta, Georgia. Relaunched in 2025 after Atlanta’s Channel 24 went dark in 2023, the program was created to restore public access service while updating the model for digital media, training, and contemporary community storytelling.
The City of Atlanta describes the relaunch as a way to build on the legacy of public access television and Channel 24 by expanding digital media access and supporting educational opportunities in community media. The new ATL Community Media facility at 2 Peachtree Street includes updated equipment and a renewed mission to help residents share local stories, showcase community events, and participate in civic discussion.
ATL Community Media should be understood as the successor chapter to People TV, not simply a renamed version of the old nonprofit. Its importance to Community Media Voices is in the continuity: after Atlanta residents lost a public access channel and pushed for its return, the city restored Channel 24 as a renewed platform for local voice, community training, and civic media.
