About this hub
CURRENTtv is the government and educational access television operation for Dare County on North Carolina's Outer Banks, a collaboration among multiple local government and educational entities providing informational programming for this barrier island chain.
The operation provides programming on two Spectrum Cable channels - CURRENTTV Government on Channel 191 and CURRENTTV Education on Channel 198 - supported by the towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Manteo, along with Dare County Government, Dare County Schools, UNC Coastal Studies Institute, and College of The Albemarle. The channels are governed by the Government Education Access Channels Committee with a representative from each participating entity, and operate from a production studio in the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo.
Outer Banks residents and the many visitors who put down roots in Dare County rely on CURRENTtv for the government meeting coverage, Destination Dare community information series, and educational programming that keeps one of North Carolina's most distinctive geographic communities connected to its own civic life.
