Community Media of the Foothills (CMF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community media organization based in Monrovia, California, in the San Gabriel Valley foothills east of Los Angeles, operating the KGEM-TV studio and managing Monrovia's PEG access channels since 1984.
CMF operates from a 2,200 square foot production and post-production facility and manages three Spectrum cable channels - KGEM (public access), KMAC (educational), and KGOV (government) - providing gavel-to-gavel coverage of Monrovia City Council and Planning Commission meetings, event production for city events, and public access training and studio access for residents and nonprofits. The organization also contracts services to Monrovia Unified School District and the City of Sierra Madre to help sustain its operations.
Monrovia residents rely on KGEM-TV for the civic programming and government meeting coverage that keeps this foothill city - a community with a strong small-town identity despite being part of the vast Los Angeles metropolitan area - connected to its own government and to the neighbors producing original programming in the KGEM-TV studio.
