About this hub
Community Media Access Partnership (CMAP) is a nonprofit community media center serving Gilroy, Hollister, and San Juan Bautista in California's Santa Clara and San Benito counties - communities at the southern end of the Silicon Valley corridor and into the agricultural valleys beyond.
Founded in 2000 and originally based at Gavilan Community College, CMAP provides four cable channels featuring public, educational, and government programming, along with free video production training, camera equipment, editing suites, and a television studio for community members. The organization covers Gilroy City Council and other local government meetings and produces original programming including community affairs series, and has been recognized for original work including a nomination for a Western Access Video Excellence Award.
Residents of Gilroy, Hollister, and San Juan Bautista rely on CMAP for the locally produced community television that reflects the agricultural heritage, Latino culture, and civic life of communities that sit at the edge of Silicon Valley but feel worlds apart from it - places where local media matters deeply.
