About this hub
Atlanta Community Media, operating for many years as People TV, is the City of Atlanta's public access media technology center established in 1986 to give Atlanta residents, nonprofits, and community organizations a platform to reach more than 100,000 households on Comcast Cable Channel 24.
People TV offered production workshops, studio facilities, and equipment access so Atlanta citizens could create and broadcast their own noncommercial programming, serving as one of the more active urban public access operations in the South and documenting key community moments including local activism around the Troy Davis case. Note: After a period of inactivity, Atlanta's public access Channel 24 relaunched in 2025 as ATL Community Media with a modernized mission blending traditional programming with digital tools and continued training and production support for Atlantans.
Atlanta residents have used the public access channel to host talk shows, broadcast church services, produce political commentary, and amplify the full range of diverse voices that define a major American city - content that commercial television in Atlanta rarely made room for.
