About the station
Greater Newburyport Community Media Hub (NCM Hub) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit designated provider of public, educational, and government access cable channels for Newburyport, Massachusetts, a historic port city at the mouth of the Merrimack River on the North Shore, operating three Comcast channels and a community radio station.
NCM Hub produces and cablecasts programming on Channel 8 Voice of the People (public community programming), Channel 9 Clipper Cities and Schools (government and schools programming), and Channel 22 The Waterside Channel (local arts, culture, history, and maritime programming), reaching nearly 7,000 households as well as nursing homes, schools, and businesses throughout Newburyport. The hub also holds the license for WJOP-LP 96.3 FM Joppa Radio and publishes the Packet Post citizen journalism project, making it one of the most multimedia-complete community media centers in Massachusetts.
Newburyport residents - in a city with a deep maritime heritage, a beautifully preserved Federal-era downtown, and a fiercely engaged civic culture - rely on NCM Hub for the government meeting coverage, community programming, and locally produced content that reflects the full life of a small city with outsized civic pride.
