About this hub
Malden Access Television (MATV) is the community media organization serving Malden, Massachusetts, a diverse and dense Middlesex County city just north of Boston that has become one of the most ethnically mixed communities in New England, providing PEG access television since the 1980s.
MATV provides public, educational, and government access programming for Malden residents on cable, covering city council and government meetings and producing multilingual community programming that reflects the city's large Chinese, Haitian, Vietnamese, and Central American communities. The organization has been recognized for its commitment to serving a genuinely diverse urban audience and producing programming in multiple languages.
Malden residents - in a densely packed inner suburb where a historic New England city has become a majority-minority community of extraordinary cultural richness - rely on MATV for the government coverage and multilingual programming that makes a city of many languages and backgrounds visible to itself on television.
