About the station
Capital Community Media (CC:Media) is a nonprofit community media center serving Salem, Oregon, the state capital, and one of the only local broadcast television operations actually dedicated to covering the city - other stations licensed in Salem tend to serve the larger Portland and Eugene markets.
CC:Media manages three Comcast cable channels (21, 22/322 HD, and 23) and operates community radio on 98.3 FM, providing free video production workshops, professional HD studios, editing suites, and equipment access to Salem residents and nonprofit organizations. The center offers classes in camera, editing, and studio production, provides live coverage of Salem City Council, Marion County Commissioners, and Salem-Keizer School Board meetings, and covers Salem-Keizer Schools sports and music programs. It has also produced original community journalism through its Stories of Salem initiative, covering voices from neighborhood leaders to local artists.
Salem residents and the surrounding Marion County community rely on CC:Media for the local civic coverage that commercial stations based in Portland or Eugene rarely provide - government meetings, school events, community stories, and a production platform that has helped thousands of Salem-area residents make their voices heard.
