MetroEast Community Media is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community media hub founded in 1983 (as Multnomah Cable Access at Mt. Hood Community College) and now based in Gresham, Oregon, serving East Multnomah County communities including Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, and Wood Village with six PEG cable channels on Comcast and Frontier.
MetroEast operates three public access channels, one education channel covering Gresham Barlow and Reynolds school district board meetings and student programming, one government channel providing gavel-to-gavel coverage of local jurisdictions including Multnomah County and the cities of Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village, and Portland, and a community bulletin channel - reaching approximately 60,000 homes in East Multnomah County and 180,000 across the region. The organization has an Emmy-nominated production team, offers media cohorts focused on underserved communities, a BIPoC Contractor Program, and accessible $100 individual memberships that include free gear rental.
East Multnomah County residents - in a diverse, working-class region that sits in the shadow of Portland's cultural attention but has a rich and complex community life of its own - rely on MetroEast for the government transparency, civic programming, and media education that give the communities east of the city a broadcast platform that reflects their own stories.
