Chief Production Officer, Pasadena Media

Digital 2010-2019Current 2020-present

Bobbie Ferguson is Chief Production Officer at Pasadena Media, the nonprofit community media organization operating four PEG channels serving Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley, where she has led the production function since joining as Production Supervisor in 2014. A graduate of Colorado State University in Journalism and Technical Communication, she built her community media foundation at KOCT Oceanside Community Television, where she worked as a Program Scheduler and Senior Production Technician, then helped start a new public access station in Long Beach before coming to Pasadena. Under her production leadership, Pasadena Media's original programming has earned repeated recognition from the ACM Western Region's WAVE Awards, including wins for What's Up Pasadena! in 2019, 2025, and 2026, and for Arroyo Live's coverage of Asian American Pacific Islander voices in 2022, and for Arroyo Now: Rise from the Ashes in 2026. In 2026 the organization received the ACM Hometown Media Award for Overall Excellence in PEG Programming.

Her team's documentary work has extended Pasadena Media's reach beyond television awards. Short films produced under her leadership were central to Garfield Heights Neighborhood Association's national Grand Prize win at the Neighborhoods USA conference, and to the Pasadena Police Department's first-place national recognition for its Community Police Academy in Spanish the following year, work that demonstrated how community media production can serve civic programs reaching residents outside mainstream English-language channels.

Bobbie's career reflects the production side of community media at its most effective: building the internal craft and organizational capacity that turns an open-access operation into one whose work earns sustained national recognition.
