Fred Cohn

Fred Cohn was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Monterey, California from 1984 to 2012. He led the successful efforts in the late 1990s to develop a highly regarded cable franchise agreement for the City of Monterey and several adjacent communities, and establish Access Monterey Peninsula (AMP) as the area's PEG Access nonprofit organization. This led to the selection of Monterey as the site of the ACM 2005 national convention, where Fred received the Dirk Koning - George Stoney Award for Humanistic Communication.

Fred Cohn played a key role in developing the technological innovations required by the Monterey Peninsula cable franchise agreement, including an I-NET that provides a high-speed fiber backbone throughout the region for use by the cities, area institutions, and AMP.
