Jim Palmer

Jim Palmer has been part of community media in the Peabody area since the late 1990s, when he started as a volunteer with Peabody Cablevision through his high school's TV Club program. After earning a degree in TV and Video Production from Emerson College in Boston, he spent nearly eight years at Danvers TV before returning to his hometown in 2010. He has worked as Production Manager at Peabody Access Telecommunications ever since, overseeing the station's local production, public meeting coverage, and support for the community producers who bring programming to Peabody's public, educational, and government channels.

Beyond the station, Jim has been an active contributor to the regional field through the ACM Northeast Region. His work reflects a production-centered approach to community media leadership - the practical, hands-on work of helping residents, municipalities, and organizations turn local events and civic information into programming people can actually watch and use.

Outside of community media, Jim is a licensed Amateur Radio operator and serves as North Shore and Middlesex County ARES District Emergency Coordinator and Assistant North Shore SKYWARN Coordinator, roles he has held for more than a decade. He is part of the Boston Marathon Amateur Radio and Communications Committees, a member of the Peabody Emergency Management Agency, and is actively involved in the Boy Scouts. The through-line across his professional and volunteer work is the same: showing up with the right equipment and skills when a community needs to communicate.
