Melissa Miller

Melissa Miller is a producer and co-creator of T-Time in Olympia, the community media program that received the ACM's 2017 Jewell Ryan-White Award for Cultural Diversity. T-Time used Olympia's public access channel to create regular programming about gender, sexuality, LGBTQ+ life, medical questions, activism, and community experience, building an audience within a community that had limited representation in either commercial or mainstream public media.

The program demonstrated what a committed producer can build with access to a community channel over time: a recognizable local voice on topics that matter to a specific community, produced from inside that community rather than about it from the outside.

T-Time's recognition by the ACM placed it alongside the field's most meaningful contributions to cultural diversity in community media, work that expanded who public access served and what it was willing to air.
