Mike Johnson

Mike Johnson is a longtime community media executive whose leadership has been rooted in Minnesota and the practical work of sustaining regional PEG access. Over a 42-year career in community media, he led Northwest Community Television / CCX Media in Brooklyn Park, serving nine cities in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities. His work connected local government coverage, community programming, public information, and production services across multiple municipalities, reflecting the complexity of regional access: serving many communities while keeping local media useful across city lines.

Mike's contribution also extended beyond CCX through field leadership and public policy service. He served as Executive Director of the Northwest Suburbs Cable Communications Commission and held board roles with the Alliance for Community Media, NATOA, and the Minnesota Association of Community Telecommunications Administrators. Since retiring, he has remained deeply involved in public service through Honor Flight, volunteering in Washington, D.C. to help veterans visit and understand the memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, and the history around them. His career reflects a steady commitment to civic infrastructure, local communication, and honoring public service.
