Shannon Gee

Shannon Gee joined Seattle Channel in 2005 as a contract producer and built Community Stories, the station's documentary series focused on diversity and inclusion that has earned more than 35 Northwest Emmy nominations. She was appointed general manager in 2018, bringing to the role both her production background and a commitment to using the government access channel as a platform for the communities most often missing from mainstream media coverage. Her documentaries have examined Filipino American labor history, the rise of local hip-hop culture, racial segregation and redlining in Seattle's neighborhoods, and youth-led violence prevention work in Rainier Beach, each produced in direct partnership with the communities at the center of the story.

In 2019 she received the ACM's Jewell Ryan-White Award for Cultural Diversity, and in 2020 was inducted into the Silver Circle of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Northwest Chapter. Her work demonstrates what a government access channel can be when it is led by someone who treats it as a civic and cultural responsibility rather than a broadcast obligation.
