Thenmozhi Soundararajan

Thenmozhi Soundararajan is a Dalit American artist, organizer, technologist, author, and media justice leader whose work connects storytelling with civil rights, community research, and cultural power. Through Third World Majority, which she co-founded, she helped build media training and production capacity for communities too often pushed out of dominant media systems. That work placed digital storytelling in the hands of people using media to document their own lives, organize across difference, and challenge the structures that decide whose stories are heard.

As founder and Executive Director of Equality Labs, Thenmozhi has continued that work through caste equity, digital security, popular education, cultural organizing, and advocacy. Her contribution to community media is not rooted in a single access station, but in the larger promise of community-controlled media: that people facing exclusion should have the tools, language, safety, and public space to tell the truth about their own communities. Her work expands the archive's understanding of media access into technology justice, diaspora organizing, and the fight for narrative power.
