Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) is the largest community media center in the United States, founded in 1992 as the successor to Channel J and operating seven public access cable channels for Manhattan residents from two locations - its flagship studio at 509 West 38th Street in midtown and the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center in East Harlem.
MNN broadcasts more than 10,000 hours of originally created content annually across channels including Community, Lifestyle, Spirit (religious and philosophical programming), Culture (multilingual arts), HD Community, MNN-FSTV (in partnership with Free Speech TV), and NYXT.nyc (highlighting Manhattan nonprofits), reaching more than 600,000 cable subscribers. Programs air in more than 40 languages, and MNN is the largest media education institution in New York City, offering certification, advanced, and workshop courses in studio and field production, editing, and social media to Manhattan residents.
New Yorkers from every Manhattan neighborhood - from Washington Heights to the Lower East Side, from Inwood to the Financial District - have used MNN to produce the programming that gives every community in the world's most media-saturated city a free-speech broadcast platform that no commercial network, however large, could ever replicate.
