Erik Möllberg

Erik Mollberg was a longtime public access leader at Access Fort Wayne and one of the people who helped make community media feel alive in Fort Wayne. For 33 years, Erik worked through the Allen County Public Library's access television operation, helping residents create programs, documentaries, music projects, and local media that would not have found a home anywhere else. He was also active in the ACM nationally and in the Central States Region, where colleagues remembered him as someone who defended public access when budget cuts threatened its future.

Erik's later work helped open a new chapter for local media in Fort Wayne. He created WELT 95.7 FM, the community radio station based at Access Fort Wayne, bringing the access tradition into sound, music, conversation, and local culture. WELT stands for "We Encourage Local Talent," and that spirit seems to capture Erik's work: make room, hand people the tools, and trust that a community has something worth hearing. His legacy lives in the producers he mentored, the channels and station he helped build, and the stubborn belief that local voices still need places to gather, experiment, and be heard.
